The Ann Arbor Area Piano Teachers Guild (AAAPTG) is a professional organization for independent studio piano teachers. Since its formation in 1961, one of the principal goals of AAAPTG has been to help its members further their knowledge and expertise in the area of teaching piano. AAAPTG has evolved into a large, highly professional organization with a broad range of activities which provide for the exchange of information, ideas and experiences.
Among the opportunities available are monthly Formal Programs, informal programs called Seminars, workshops, and Repertoire Group performances.
Activities for students include the AAAPTG Foundation Awards program, Music Explorer Day, MMTA Student Achievement Testing program, student recitals and adult student recitals. Students of members also take part in area-wide Bach and Sonatina Festivals and the National Guild of Piano Teachers Auditions.
AAAPTG is an affiliate chapter of Michigan Music Teachers Association (MMTA)and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), with access to the programs of these groups. All members of AAAPTG must also hold membership in MMTA and MTNA and adhere to the professional code of ethics as set forth by those organizations.
