Metropolitan Detroit
Musicians League
The Metropolitan Detroit Musicians League was founded in 1927. It is an organization of independent piano, vocal and instrumental teachers. The purposes of the League are to promote and encourage the understanding, appreciation and study of the art of music, to evaluate the economic and artistic standards of teachers of music and to promote a closer professional fraternity.
The Metropolitan Detroit Musicians League has members from parts of Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties.
MDML provides the following:
- Monthly meetings with stimulating programs.
- A chance to share friendship and ideas with other committed teachers.
- Local student events, including Student Achievement Testing , MDML Young Artists Competition, Monthly Student recitals, a yearly Adult Student Recital
- Journals and newsletters from Music Teachers National Association and Michigan Music Teachers Association.
- State and National Certification programs, State and National Conferences and Workshops; State and National performance and composition contests; Group Insurance Programs.

Code of Ethics
We believe and recommend:
- That, as members of the Metropolitan Detroit Musicians League, we are obligated to uphold a high standard of artistic values in music and help maintain the dignity of our profession.
- That, as teachers of a progressive art, we should strive to improve the standards of music teaching through personal study, and through active participation in the local, state and national associations.
